Menubar Sites — Privacy Policy

Menubar Sites does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal information. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. The app is a window onto websites you choose — and the window itself keeps nothing and tells no one.

How the app uses the network

Menubar Sites is a web viewer, so it connects to the internet — but only to the sites you add. Two kinds of requests are made: loading the pages you open, and fetching each site's own icon (favicon.ico) from that site directly, never from a third-party icon service. All traffic flows between your Mac and those sites; none of it passes through us. Oak Mug operates no servers for this app, so there is nothing for us to see, log, or store.

The sites you visit

Websites loaded in Menubar Sites behave exactly as they would in a browser: they may set cookies, keep you signed in, or run their own analytics, all under their own privacy policies. Menubar Sites doesn't read, modify, or report on what happens inside a page.

Data on your Mac

Your settings and each page's browsing data — cookies, caches, logins — are stored locally on your Mac, inside the app's sandbox. On macOS 14 and later each page keeps its own separate browsing data (earlier versions of macOS share one local store). You can clear a page's data at any time, and closing a page deletes its data for good. None of this ever leaves your Mac, except as part of normal web traffic between your Mac and the sites you visit.

Changes to this policy

If a future version of Menubar Sites ever collects data of its own, this policy will be updated and the effective date revised before that change ships, and the App Store privacy label will be updated to match.
